That's so cool! I've really been liking it so far.. Lelouch and Cornelia are probably my favorite characters.

Just wanted to say that I've started reading Infinite Jest because of you. I'd heard many good things about it over the years, but I don't think I would've ever gotten around to reading it had I not visited your site. (I am highly enjoying it so far!) Hope you're having a nice day :-)

happy belated bday! hope that the surprise party was fun and that you're feeling good post-paper submission-- seeing you talk about the horrors of writing about philosophy made me laugh. we're all in semiotics hell forever <3 as far as labs go, i will say that it's not at all shallow to judge them based on their web design, but i'll also note that labs with terrible site designs gave me the best research opportunities-- usually, a shitty lab site means that they offloaded the responsibility of webdev off onto an undergrad rather than expending time and resources on stuff like "hiring a graphic designer" and "putting effort into the aesthetics", and i tend to think that the lab heads who do that have their priorities in order (and also tended to pay me pretty well to manage their websites when i was an undergrad, so i have my loyalties). not to be a terrible influence or anything, but i'll also point out that it is technically possible to have multiple research positions at the same time while you're a student; i made the bold choice of averaging 2.5 paid positions at a time through undergrad and grad school and, for all of the negative consequences on my sleep schedule, it was a lot of fun and introduced me to a bunch of different aspects of medicine and medical ethics super quickly (plus, y'know, Lots Of Publications(tm)). i'll also plug part-time research opportunities in bioethics/medical ethics as well; not as many undergrads go for those positions, but i had an awesome time interning at the bioethics center and wound up helping my mentor with book publication in addition to journal articles, which sounds like the kind of thing that might be up your alley? best of luck with midterms, don't forget to make time for socializing, and i'm excited to hear more from ya! also, feel free to add me as a neighbor if you'd like-- i'm happy to add you back!

Hi again, 9! It's awesome to see you back, and your messages are always so kind and in-depth. Thank you for the lab advice, I'll keep it in mind! I think I may actually commit to the lab with the ugly site, because when I toured, they seemed like the absolute sweetest group of folks. Thank you particularly for the encouragement to try and pursue more than one lab at once, which is something that has felt like a guilty pleasure to even consider. Bioethics sounds fantastic and I was planning to fit a minor in the subject in anyways, so thanks for mentioning it. I'll look around for opportunities in that. Thanks as always for the well-wishes! I've added your button to my site and hope to see the same from you soon! Much love!

Hi! I really like your website and I appreciate the kind words you left in my guestbook. Thank you for the inadvertent novel recommendation, it looks very interesting. You're one of the first people I have seen on the indie web interested in medical science, I think that's super cool and I wish you well in your studies. :D

i just left a massive comment on your latest blogpost, so i figured i'd stop in over here as well to say that i absolutely adore your site-- as a [censored] with a philosophy degree myself, it's be a total delight to dig into your writings on Wittgenstein (i only read him in a limited capacity in my classes on metaphilosophy, but enjoyed what i did read and desperately need to give his work a more comprehensive look). also, seeing a jungian repping a persona 5 kin took me the fuck out. please say more about your shadow. i'm sat. anyways. best of luck with R (i promise it's not that terrible of a scripting language-- if all of the public health PhDs in my life can figure it out, you totally can) and definitely read some palahniuk when you get the chance (fight club is, in fact, That Good). instant follow. hope to see you around.

I can't tell you how immensely appreciative I am of your comments & input. Thank you for the reassurance and attention to detail- I'm so glad my site could give you something to chew on :) please do get into Wittgenstein and come back to let me know what you think! Philosophy degrees make the world go round..

hi!!! hello!!! wanted to say i like hearing what you have to say & your website is AWESOME. thank you for the pdfs for the required reading by the way . is there any dfw works you'd recommend (besides the obvious infinite jest) for someone trying to get accustomed to his work? :) regardless of response thank you for your time

Replied on: August 11, 2026 at 12:18:00 AM

Hi, thank you so much!!! I'm glad you like my PDFs-- I will say that for IJ in particular I would highly suggest going out and buying a copy, I've never encountered a PDF or EPUB that actually seemed to work with the format because the novel itself has an absurd amount of endnotes that you have to repeatedly consult by flipping back and forth through the novel. IMO your first DFW work should be Oblivion, which is his best collection of short stories; it's some of his best work and will get you used to his very overactive & information-dense style of prose. Thank you so much for the high praise! Feel free to ask me whatever you'd like to help you get started!

HI TEOBUG.. much love! I also love TNR. I think it’s so easy on the eyes. My secret for you is that I took a titer for immunity to a certain illness earlier this summer and it turned out that (despite being vaccinated against it) I wasn’t actually immune to it, so I had to get another dose of the same vaccine. Luckily, I just got my second titer back, and I am now completely immune! These things are important in medicine, so I’m happy it wasn’t too big of an issue.. :)
